Centennial Olympic Park is a 21-acre public park in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, USA. It was part of the infrastructure for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Centennial Olympic Park is located near major Atlanta landmarks. The Georgia Dome, Georgia World Congress Center, the Philips Arena and the CNN Center are all located to the west of the park while the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola are on the north side. One of the attractions at the Centennial Olympic Park is the Fountain of Rings. This is an interactive fountain that traces the Olympic logo with water and lights. The fountain forms a splash pad where children can play under. The computer-controlled fountain can shoot jets of water 12 to 30 feet into the air to create water sculptures. The technology has since been used in other places including Dundas Square in Toronto and the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The Centennial Olympic Park is credited for revitalizing the downtown area of Atlanta. Several attractions have opened in its vicinity including the World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium and the Children's Museum of Atlanta. How to go to the Centennial Olympic ParkTake Bus No 1 or 97 to the Marietta Street / Park Avenue West bus stop. Alternatively take Bus 1 or 113 to the Centennial Olympic Park Drive @ Baker Street bus stop. |
