Coloane is an island that is also the southernmost section of Macau, which also consists of the Macau peninsula and Taipa island. Coloane is 4km in length, and is located 5.6km from Macau peninsula. Land reclamation has merged the islands of Coloane and Taipa into one single island. The new township of Cotai is now being built on the reclaimed land between Colone and Taipa.

171-metre Alto de Coloane is the highest point in Macau. The north shore of Coloane is occupied by the Macau Deepwater Port. Hac Ba Beach to the east and Cheoc Van Bay to the south of Coloane are popular picnic and swimming beaches. At Baía de Hác Sá is the famous Portuguese restaurant Fernandos.
