The Customs House is a heritage building in Circular Quay, Sydney. It was constructed in 1844-1845, and was used as the headquarters of the Customs Service right up to 1990. Ownership then transferred from the Commonwealth Government of Australia to the City of Sydney Council in 1994. It then was used for exhibitions and private functions. In 2003, Customs House was refurbished, and is now the new home of the City of Sydney Library.
On the ground floor of Customs House is a 4.2m x 9.5m scale model of Sydney's central business district (CBD), viewed through a glass floor. It was built in 1998 by Modelcraft in 1998 and weighs one tonne. Photographs of Customs House across its history is also on display.
