Gramercy and the Flatiron District comprises four squares laid out in the 19th century Manhattan. It was developed in an attempt to emulate the leafy residential neighborhoods in European cities. The district takes its name after Gramercy Park and the Flatiron Building. Within this district are townhouses designed by famous architects including Calvert Vaux and Stanford White, and needless to say, is the address of some of New York City's prominent residents.
