The London IMAX is an IMAX cinema in the South Bank district of London, England. It is located just north of Waterloo Station and is operated by the British Film Institute.
The London IMAX is in the centre of a roundabout on Waterloo Road. It is one of three IMAX cinemas in London, the others being at the Trocadero near Piccadilly Circus in the West End and at the Science Museum in South Kensington/Albertopolis.
The London IMAX was designed by Avery Associates and completed in May 1999. By far the largest screen in Britain it only has a seating capacity of just under 500. Despite being surrounded by traffic and has an underground line just four metres below, the London IMAX is insulated from the noise with anti vibration bearings.
