Introducing Nottingham

Nottingham Budget Travel Guide is written for the benefit of people who are planning a visit to Nottingham in the United Kingdom. I want to provide you useful travel information for going there, and tips on travelling around Nottingham. I will also share with you information on the tourist attractions available in Nottingham.

About Nottingham

Nottingham is a city in East Midlands, within Nottinghamshire in England. The Nottingham Urban Area has a population of 667,000, making it the 7th largest urban area in the United Kingdom.

The city of Nottingham is perhaps best known for the legend of Robin Hood. It is however one of the early industrised cities of Britain, and was a centre for lace making and bicycle manufacturing. It was granted its city charter in conjunction with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Queen Victoria in 1897, and is known officially as the City of Nottingham.

In Nottingham today you can come across many beautiful historical buildings, some dating from the 12th century. Many of the most elaborate buildings in Nottingham were built in the 19th century. They are the work of prominent architects such as Alfred Waterhouse, Thomas Chambers Hines and Nottingham's own Watson Fothergill.
