Oceania Budget Travel Guides provides you information for visiting the countries in Oceania on a budget. The term Oceania is used here to describe the vast region of mostly islands in the Pacific Ocean. The name "Oceania" was coined in 1831 by French explorer Dumont d'Urville. Today the term Oceania includes parts of Australasia such as Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea, and the islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. Interpretations vary, with some including part or all of the Malay archipelago as well. Nonetheless, popular definition of Oceania understands the region as composed of Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia.
