Pont de la Concorde was planned in 1755 but was only completed in 1791. The material used included masonry taken by force from the demolished Bastille. Construction of the bridge started in 1787, and progressed through the turbulent years of the French Revolution. Pont de la Concorde was called by diffrerent names including pont Louis XVI, pont de la Révolution, pont de la Concorde, then pont Louis XVI in 1814, before reverted to pont de la Concorde once more, in 1830.
