 Pont Louis Philippe, Paris Author: ignis (Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0) Pont Louis Philippe is a bridge across the River Seine in Paris. It connects the Île Saint-Louis at quai de Bourbon to Saint-Gervais on the Right Bank. The Pont Louis Philippe dates back to a suspension bridge built here and opened to traffic in 1834. The bridge was torn down during the French Revolution of 1848, after which another bridge called Pont de la Réforme stood there until 1852. The present Pont Louis Philippe was completed in 1860. Except for the stone guard rails which were replaced in 1995, much of the bridge is today as it was when completed.
