Silom is the name of a road in the Sathorn Business District of downtown Bangkok. The name, also written Si Lom, means windmill, and comes from the windmills used to pump water from the canals. Today the original windmills are long gone, but metal replicas are erected at the intersection of Silom Road and Narathiwat Road in memory of it.

Within Silom is the infamous Patpong district, which I will document in a separate page.
