The St Joseph's Seminary and Church in Macau was opened in 1758. The church, or Igreja de São José, has two brick roofed towers, and was a favourite among artists. St Joseph's Church is laid out in cruciform shape, with a high domed ceiling. The excellent acoustics of the church makes it an ideal venue of concerts, including the annual International Music Festival. There is a door beside the altar that leads to a walled garden with an ancient well and a plant nursery.
