The Pickle Guys is a shop selling pickles in Manhattan, New York City. It is located at 49 Essex Street in the Lower East Side.
The Pickle Guys make their pickles the old-fashioned way. The pickles are stored in barrels of brine, garlic and spices. You can buy pickles in different grades of sourness, from full sour, to three-quarters sour, half sour, as well as new and hot. The pickles are made according to strict Kosher rules in the Jewish tradtion according to handed-down Eastern European recipes.
You can find here pickeled celery, olives, tomatoes, sweet kraut, sauerkraut, mushrooms, and herring, among others. The shop is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sundays to Thursdays, and from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Fridays. They even have their own website at www.nycpickleguys.com
How to reach The Pickle Guys
Take the F, J, M or Z trains to the Essex Street/Delancey Street subway station. Walk south down Essex Street and you'd find them on the right side of the street, after the intersection with Grand Street. They are just a tiny storefront, so keep your eyes peeled.
