University of Texas, Austin
University of Texas is the main institution of The University of Texas System. Located in downtown Austin, the university is a short distance from the Texas State Capitol. It is the fifth largest single-campus university in the United States, and has the largest enrollment between 1997 and 2003. It is also the largest university in the state of Texas.
The University of Texas at Austin is one of the original eight Public Ivy institutions. It was inducted into the American Association of Universities in 1929.
The University of Texas is home to a number of museums and libraries. The Blanton Museum of Art within the university campus has 13,000 works of art ranging from Renaissance to Abstract Expressionism, many of which were donated by novelist James Michener.
The Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library is located on the northeast edge of the campus. It holds all the official documents of the Texas-born president. There is also a 7/8th scale replica of the Oval Office at the top floor of the library.
