Venice Introduction
Venice is a city on the eastern coast of Italy. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful and most romantic cities in the world. Venice is the capital of the Veneto region, and has a population of 271,000 inhabitants. What makes Venice unique among cities of the world is that it is built entirely on several small, interlinked islands in the Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea.
The main mode of transportation in Venice is by boat. No vehicles are allowed on Venice, except for a parking lot across the causeway. Visitors have to either take a boat or walk. The classical Venetian boat is the gondola which is used mostly by tourists nowadays. There are about 400 bridges connecting the different parts of the city, and it offers visitors many opportunity to explore. There are plenty of heritage landmarks, churches, cathedrals and bell towers that are simply picturesque at different times of the day.
